Derby County Football Club Women

Unison back Ewe Rams for 4th Consecutive Season

Derby County FC Women are once again delighted to confirm their renewed partnership with the UK’s largest trade union UNISON.  The union are continuing to back the Ewe Rams Academy as a Shirt Partner of our newly named U20 side.

Moving into it’s 4th consecutive year of partnership, UNISON spokesman Franco Buonaguro spoke of his delight at seeing UNISON’s name on the jersey and cannot wait for the season to start.

Buonaguro said “I’m delighted that we are once again going to be Club Partners with Derby County FC Women and to be a fan of the club and seeing UNISON’s name on the shirt is always a very proud moment for me.

“It has been a tough few months for everyone concerned but the hope is that we can see football return to normal soon, we’ve managed to get back playing but it’s still a strange process. It’s a crucial time and giving our support to recreational activity is vital for youngsters.

“It’s very exciting to see us on the front of the U20’s shirt and with the pathway that is being created across the club, we are going to be seeing the future 1st team players with the UNISON’s name on their shirt and that is fantastic and a big tick for our development ethos we like to promote.”

Buonaguro will continue in his role supporting Lead Developmental Coach Dan Dobrzycki for the newly named Under 20’s side and he believes the club is on the verge of matching it’s male counterparts with regular academy prospects coming through the ranks.

“It’s been so good to see the progress of so many players and we have an Under 20 side that has some serious players coming through and it’s our job to help guide them through to Sam in the 1st team and bring as many as possible through the ranks.

“They work incredibly hard on their development and producing our own players is a big tick for the club and something they are working very hard to do and along with Dan, we are playing our part to achieve these aims.

“There is still plenty of work to do and this season will be no different and we will be preparing them to take that step up in the game. If we can continue their development along the lines we have been doing, this club is in a fantastic place and I’m excited both UNISON and I can play our part in this.”

Speaking on behalf of the club, Commercial Director Neil Jackson said “We’re very pleased to once again welcome UNISON to the club as a Club Partner, we have had a long and mutually beneficial relationship and we hope to continue it for many years to come.

“When you have somebody like Franco who has the passion for both helping people under the guise of UNISON and the passion for Derby County, it’s great to work with him and promote the name of UNISON by giving them the exposure and opportunities we as a club can give them.

“It’s been a 4-year relationship and we wouldn’t be able to keep driving forward as a club without organisations like UNISON who are giving huge backing to the women’s game with their continued partnership with us. We look forward to another successful year and building a growing relationship year on year.”
