Match Summary

Today’s match was the third time that the Derby County Ladies FC U12 (White Socks) played against Outwoods FC Swans U13 Girls. The away league match ended 1 – 1 and the DCLFC White Socks won the Home leg 7 – 2.

The first 25 minutes of this match was relatively balanced. Mimi made a great save during the 6th minutes of this match, a spectacular cross from the right from Florrie during the 12 minutes of the match and shots on target from Ellie (18th minutes) and Imogen (21st minutes).

As usual the DCLFC White Socks were disciplined with and without the ball. Outwoods U13 played as a well organised unit, thereby restricting the DCLFC White Socks domination of the match to shorter sporadic spells. The DCLFC White Socks were unfortunate to concede a penalty during the 28th minutes of this match. Outwoods FC Swan converted this penalty even though Mimi dived in the right direction. The 1st half ended 1 – 0 in favour of Outwoods FC Swans.

The DCLFC started the 2nd half better, with a shot on target by Ruby (45 Minutes) and another superb cross by Florrie (48 Minutes). A well-timed pass from Tonbara was converted by Ayla during the 51st of the match levelling the scores (1 – 1). Two minutes later Ayla put DCLFC White Socks ahead (1 – 2) courtesy of another pass from Tonbara.

Outwoods FC Swans high press paid off and they levelled the score (2 – 2) during the 58th minutes of this match. Another one-on-one save by Mimi six minutes later kept the score level.

Imogen calmly scored the DCLFC’s 3rd goal from a Florrie’s assist. Imogen’s goal (we call this one of the set of twins Ayla-Imogen “hat-trick”) put DCLFC White Socks through to the semi-final of the U13 Challenge Cup.

Today’s individual and collective display and the outcome of this match is an indication of the progress that the DCLFC White Socks Girls have made since the beginning of this season. Ayla’s outstanding performance earned her today’s player of the match (POTM) award.
