“Things Progressing In A Timely Manner” Mickleover CIC & Ground Redvelopment Update

Supporters will be aware that the club have been in dialogue with Mickleover FC for the past three years in relation to becoming a fourth member of the Community Interest Company (CIC) that operate the facility. Over the past year of that period those discussions have involved the other two stakeholders within the CIC, who along with Mickleover FC voted unanimously in 2020 to look to progress the project.  According to the clubs Finance Director, Stephen Joughin, things are progressing in a timely manner.

“Intrinsically linked to this is the major ground re-development, which will see a new 3G AWP replace the current grass based surface, along with a re-location of both the pitch and main stand towards the main road in order to remove the current issue of the adjacent cricket pitch and Mickleover CC’s usage of it impacting on the hosting of early and late season fixtures.”

“This has directly and understandably led to the lengthy timeline on bringing this exciting development in the clubs history to fruition, which was not helped by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which subsequently led to a 12 month delay in the terms of the commencement of the redevelopment. As it sits, the club and the CIC are in advanced discussions with regards to DCFCW becoming the fourth stakeholder, with things progressing in a timely manner including the ground redevelopment which is due to commence in April 2021.”

“Timing Is More Critical Than Ever” As Club Sponsorship Portfolio Discussions Commence

Recently appointed Commercial Director, Chris Partridge is well aware that in the current business climate the club faces a significant challenge in terms of achieving desired sponsorship revenues for the 2021/22 season; however he believes there is also cause for optimism.

“In terms of a plan, Duncan and I will be leading on this area of the clubs delivery in tandem with Claire Twells from the Governance Board. The three of us held an initial planning meeting last week and have mapped out a game plan in terms of lead generation and potential new business type; however before we embark beyond tentative initial conversations, we ideally need to know which league we will be in next season.”

“ In addition to that timing is more critical than ever and our initial thoughts are that we need to wait until at least mid April before we start to fully engage with either existing or potentially new partners. Whilst some business sectors have thrived during the Covid pandemic, we see little point in launching our new campaign until such time as both the business world and world in general seem a bit more normal. Hopefully that will align with a bit more clarity in terms of our league situation.”
