Tonight’s match is Derby’s penultimate game against Buxton, played at Broomfield. The evening weather was warm and dry. Derby need a win to secure 3 points,  to guarantee a second spot in the League behind Chesterfield who have already won the league.

The game kicked off and it was Derby who drew first blood on 2 minutes with Purdy shooting from the edge of the box scoring past the Buxton keeper.

1 – 0 Derby

Derby dominated play for the first 20 minutes or so with Haslam having her shot deflected wide along with numerous other attacking moves.

On 24 minutes - Gourlay off, Page on

On 27 minute – Page linked up well with Howe, with Howe scoring a good goal from a long range shot from the edge of the box.

2 – 0 Derby

On 34 minutes – Roe, Purdy, Shepley off, Wigley, Pickering and Barker on.

Moments later Barker was unlucky not to score with a volley from a Pickering cross, which was saved by the keeper

On Half time -     Derby County 2, Buxton 0

Following the re-start Derby continued to dominate and threaten Buxton’s goal, with both Page & Wigley shooting wide

On 56 minutes – Shelton off, Shepley back on. Moments later, Pickering working hard put a cross in for Barker who was unlucky to send her volley over the bar.

On 63 minutes – From a Pickering corner the ball fell to Howe who on the edge of the box sent the ball into the back of the net

3 – 0 Derby

64 minutes – Haslam off, Purdy back on. This was followed by a Purdy run unleashing a powerful shot that was sent crashing against the framework.

On 72 minutes – Howe off, Gourlay  back on, followed by a shot from Pickering which went wide

On 81 minutes - Purdy shot again and scored

4 – 0 Derby

This followed by a shot from Gourlay which went wide. On 89 minutes Pickering had a run down the right and shot the ball which was deflected into the Buxton goal giving the keeper no chance.

5 – 0 Derby

The match played out with Derby being worthy winners.
